A leader in sustainable design, EHDD is one of only a handful of firms that continues to meet the requirements of the Architecture 2030 Challenge to dramatically reduce the energy consumption of fossil fuels in all buildings the firm designs. At EHDD Alec applied that emphasis on sustainability across a range of institutional, cultural, and academic projects in addition to his work on the firm’s Strategic Planning Group for Sustainability. Additional Experience

Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum at MSU, East Lansing, Michigan, 2012-2013

https://broadmuseum.msu.edu

As the Associate Curator for Architecture & Design, which opened in 2011 in a Zaha Hadid-designed building, all of Alec’s endeavors at the museum were focused on making architecture & design- especially contemporary work- more accessible and relevant to the museum’s various audiences. This included tours, speaking, and even an app focused on the museum’s own building and the role of architecture in shaping a community along with exhibitions and collections work culminating in East Lansing 2030; an exhibition that brought architects from across the country to East Lansing to develop speculative projects addressing the history and anticipated growth of the university and town.
