MUSEUM: Broad Art Museum, Michigan State University
LOCATION: East Lansing, Michigan
STATUS: exhibition open 2013-2014
POSITION: Curator of Architecture and Design
The Broad Art Museum at Michigan State University, a new university institution dedicated to global contemporary art, opened in 2012 at the edge of campus abutting downtown East Lansing. The museum’s site and architect, Zaha Hadid Architects, were both chosen to maximally impact the cultural and physical relationship between the university and town. East Lansing 2030: Collegeville Re-Envisioned was developed to continue the conversation started with the building of the museum about the future of a very local place and more broadly the role of contemporary design in shaping urban life.
