Removing the attic and interior walls dividing the living, dining, kitchen, and office creates a contemporary open space for living within a traditional San Francisco cottage. The private rooms of the house are modified and refurbished to retain the character and scale of the original construction. The design anticipates a future addition triggering requirement for the entire building to comply with current structural code.
